My daughter has a problem with US geography. It is no secret. She posted all about it.
However, she didn't mention that her dad has a B.S. from UCLA in Geography/Ecosystems Analysis. And I have an M.S. in Geography/Urban Planning from UCR.
We decided some remediation is in order.
Bought a puzzle at Target to satisfy the tactile learning style.
Now I've found some online sites with interactive puzzles of the USA.
Feel free to quiz her when you see her. Let's help the poor girl out.
I'm praying for her. She's been traveling .... as far away as Chile and Cambodia. She wants to go again.
Let's help her get her own country set into her mind.

As I was reading your blog, I remembered the trouble I had with this geography site. Everyone else else did weel. This computer site even had the audacity to first tell me "surely you can click faster", then "my goodness you must know more than this", and finally just before I quit playing "Geez, you're horrible at this." Maybe your daughter would like to try this: http://www.travelpod.com/traveler-iq
Glad you are signed up to take this tutorial. Have fun.
The links you have are actually links to pictures, not to sites.
I'm not so bad at geography, at least to areas I've been to (I certainly know the locations of all 50 states!). It helps to have spent lots of time as a kid traveling the country on the train and paying attention to where I was on a map (thanks). I'm up to having been to 24 countries and 45 American states, so in these regions I'm good.
However, I just took the quiz mentioned above: http://www.travelpod.com/traveler-iq . It is very fun. Everyone should do it. I found that, as one might predict, I am pretty poor at African geography, as well as central and southeast Asian geography.
My score? I got through level 10 before I wasn't good enough, with a score of 37,034. It's a super-fun quiz. I'm going to try again. You just have to have thick skin because the web site will harangue you with written abuse, as stated above.
Let's see what everyone else gets, and post it here. I'm sure Jeff beats everyone.
Thanks for the information about the site.
And I've fixed the links. (I guess I should also post the link the to one that libadylib placed, but aunt ginny wants me to edit her draft thesis this morning..)
Yes, we had some great times together on Amtrak, and poring over the maps together ahead of time. I wonder how many miles we covered together that way? Have ever figured that out?
I'll do the geography quiz thing as a a separate post challenge- I think- it would be a fun thing to do. Look for it later....
Love you
